The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
