The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 for a great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A written record, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
