The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
