The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
