The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
