The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
