The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
