The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
