The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
