The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
