The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
