The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
