The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
