The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
