The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
