The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he shall call for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
