In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
