The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
