The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
