The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
