The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
