The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
