The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
