The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
