The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
