The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
