The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
