The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
