۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
