The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
