The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Will pray for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
