The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
