The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
