The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
