The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
