The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
