The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
