The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
