The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
