The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
