The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
