The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
