The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
