The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
