The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
