The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
