The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
