The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
