The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
