The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
