The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
